From our PUBLIC MEETINGS DESK:

* The Southern Gateway highway expansion project will be the focus of a public meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Beckley-Saner Recreation Center, 114 W. Hobson Ave.

TxDOT representatives will be on hand to talk about plans, including specific properties targeted for the widening of Interstate 35E in Oak Cliff. The addition of “managed” aka toll lanes has been at the heart of the project and drawn public opposition. But that approach may be losing momentum.

* Interested in proposed changes to the city’s thoroughfare plan for a stretch of Beckley Avenue, including the addition of bike lanes?

Hear and talk about it at a public meeting Tuesday, March 31, at Methodist Dallas Medical Center’s Weiss Auditorium. The presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. or so. If you don’t walk or ride a bicycle to the meeting, you may park in Garage B, Colorado at Beckley.

Contact Tanya Brooks at 214-243-2083 for more information.

* Another proposed thoroughfare amendment would convert portions of two major Oak Cliff streets for two-way traffic. That would be Tyler and Polk between Canty and Pembroke.

Learn more about it and have a say at a public meeting April 7. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. or so at the Bishop Arts Center Theater, 215 S. Tyler St.

Contact Brooks (see above) of Lap Trinh at 214-948-4258 for more details.
